If you missed this meeting you missed a good time and lots of good food.  Our guests of honor were from the ASYMCA, Virginia Ruehwein  and Karena Vigliotti, Operation Kid Comfort.

The Janome Felting Machine was won by Patricia Limber.

The winning ticket was pulled by Virginia Ruehwein.  The look of surprise on Patricia’s face was amazing.

If anyone know how much fun the felting machine can be, it’s Patricia.  Congratulations!!

Our “Opportunity Drawing” netted $800 which will be divided between Bobbi Brunson and Janice Shaffer.  Both of these members’ homes were completely destroyed by the recent fires.

Bobbi was able to attend the Anniversary meeting and has sent the following:

To all my sewing friends in ASG,

THANK YOU!   Thank you for the outpouring of care and concern for me and my family since the fire destroyed our home.  We have felt so much love and so many prayers on our behalf.  Your generosity and kindnesses have been amazing—so many gifts and kind words.  You have lifted my sometimes sagging spirit and cheered my sad heart.  I so much enjoyed being with you at the Chapter’s 20th Year celebration.  I was a little embarrassed by all the gifts, but I truly felt I was surrounded by friends.  Thank you so much for being the wonderful women you are.

            With love and appreciation,

            Bobbie Brunson

Again, I want to thank Ron Martin from Martin’s Sewing in San Marcos for making the Janome available to us as a fund raiser for these deserving members.

There were several demonstrations by members of various Neighborhood Groups.  If you are interested in having these techniques demonstrated on your group, please contact the presenters.

Presentation by Carolyn Standifer

Carolyn Standifer, NG leader for the Poway night time group, demonstrated how to make purses from hand towels.  This technique was originally presented at last year’s election meeting by Gay Gerlack.  Carolyn has certainly mastered the technique.

She had several samples to show.  Carolyn said now is the time to find “holiday” towels at reduced prices so look for them when you go shopping. She had several different towels that could be used all year and some for other special occasions.

Contact info for Carolyn is in the Neighborhood Group section of the newsletter.

Presentation by Carol Filbeck

Carol Filbeck, representing the CAB, demo’d a quick and easy finger pin cushion made with a water bottle cap, a 3” circle of fabric, fiberfill batting, a little elastic and a little lace. Many of the attendees were able to get at least one made before the meeting ended.  You all know how to contact Carol if you’d like to arrange to have this demo’d at your NG meeting.

These 2 are only a sampling of the different pins Joan had prepared.

As you can see, the various Neighborhood Groups have much to share.  Please consider going to meetings that you might not normally attend.  You can check the website to see what is being offered.  Invite someone from another group to come and visit your meeting.

The icing on the cake was a game named “Quilt O”. It’s played like Bingo and was so much fun we are considering buying a copy to put in our new Library.

It was a fun day, let’s meet again next year!!
