ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER MEET!
Meet Your Region 5 Representative

Her name is Darlene Aniasco
Region 5 Representative for the ASG for the past 2 years.

In her non-ASG life, she has been married to Tim for 26 years. She is blessed with 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.

She joined ASG in January 2000 to make friends. She was new to Placerville and didn’t really know anyone. Lo and behold, thanks to the ASG, she now has sewing buddies not only at home, but also across the nation.

Her leadership role in the ASG started January 2001, when she agreed to lead the Placerville Neighborhood Group of the Sacramento Chapter. At that point, they had 10 very faithful members. In February 2002, the Placerville Chapter made the decision to become a chapter of the American Sewing Guild. As the 2003 Chapter President, she was honored to receive the Small Chapter of the Year Award for the Placerville Chapter.

Darlene has served on many task forces, committees and was the Volunteer Chair for the Nashville Conference and 2005 Member of the Year. Unfortunately, Darlene will not be running for Regional Rep for the coming year. She will be missed by all of us who had the pleasure of meeting and working with her. We ALL wish her well.

Meeting held in San Diego February 23rd and 24, 2007

For the first time, the San Diego Chapter hosted the Region 5 meeting. The regional meeting is held once a year for Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) members. Region 5 consists of the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.

The official meeting started on Friday afternoon, but members who arrived early were treated to a tour of Rosie’s Calico Cupboard. They were amazed at the amount of fabric and goodies for sale.

Carol Filbeck (San Diego Chapter President) and Darlene Aniasco (Region 5 Representative) gave the welcome addresses. Helen Gorsuch, a member of the National Board of Directors, spoke on behalf of the Board and filled us in on some of things that we could look forward to in the coming year.

The afternoon and all day Saturday were spent listening to presentations by various members of the group. Topics included were Contract Negotiations (how to get what you really want), Proxy Ballots, CAB Orientation, TAG – Tell Another Generation, Copyright, Membership Retention, Websites & Newsletter.

Friday evening was highlighted by a presentation by Judith Stinton, a member of the San Diego Chapter, who demonstrated her unique necklaces. Her necklaces were featured in the April 2003 issue of Sew News Magazine. Some of us were lucky enough to make more than one!
